DDUGKY Scheme: Skill Development and Job Opportunities

DDUGKY is a skill training and employment placement scheme that comes under the Ministry of Rural Development. The scheme is intended for poor rural children and is based on sustainable employment, with a focus on post placement tracking, retention and advancement incentives. The scheme is intended to offer superior skill training opportunities to the rural impoverished and to create a larger ecosystem that enables skilled individuals to have a brighter future.

The program aims to provide impoverished rural youth with skills and employment that provide regular monthly compensation at or above the minimum wage.

About DDUGKY

The Ministry of Rural Management announced the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gramin Kuashalaya Yojana Antyodaya Diwas on 25th September 2014. DDU-GKY is a part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), tasked with the dual objectives of adding diversity to the incomes of rural poor families and catering to the career aspirations of rural youth.

DDUGKY is uniquely focused on rural youth between the ages of 15 and 35 years from poor families. As part of the Skill India campaign, it plays an instrumental role in supporting the social and economic programs of the government, like the Make In India, Digital India, Smart Cities and Start-Up India, Stand-Up India campaigns. Over 180 million, or 69% of the country’s youth population, is between the ages of 18 and 34 years.

DDUGKY Project Details

It was launched in 2014 and is part of the national rural livelihood mission. It functions in collaboration with training providers, state government and commercial entities.

The program requires a minimum of 75% placement of trained candidates in positions with monthly pay that exceeds a predetermined level. It projects stress quality training, real-time monitoring, and accountability.

The program incorporates cutting-edge technologies, such as biometric attendance systems, to provide transparency and effective outcome tracking.

DDUGKY Admission Process

To meet the increasing need for flexible learning, it has launched online training programs. The online training program offers students the opportunity to learn from the comfort of their homes without compromising the quality and standards of the program. The online training programs cover a wide range of subjects, including digital literacy, soft skills, and knowledge in their respective fields.

DDUGKY Eligibility Age

The age of eligibility is normally between 15 to 35 years, with some exceptions:

The upper age limit is increased to 45 years for women, persons with disabilities, and persons from disadvantaged groups.Persons from below the poverty line (BPL) families, SC/ST communities, and other disadvantaged groups are given priority.

DDUGKY Job Salary

Application Process

Go to the official website of Kaushaal Panji.

In the left pane, click on ‘Candidate Registration’. You will be taken to the online registration form.

In the ‘Registration Type’ section, select ‘New/New Registration’ and click on ‘Next’.

Fill in all the mandatory fields in the respective sections, upload the necessary documents and click on ‘Submit’. Note the registration ID for future reference.

DDUGKY Guidelines

It is implemented according to established guidelines to ensure accountability. The guidelines ensure quality and accountability. The guidelines encompass the following:

Collaborating with established training organisations – Guaranteeing job placements for a minimum of 75% of trained individuals.

Implementation of NSQF-aligned courses – Conducting regular audits and monitoring of training centres.

What does DDUGKY provide placement for?

Is the scheme present across India?

DDU-GKY is currently being implemented in 21 States and UTs, impacting youth from 568 districts, by over 670 projects being implemented by over 300 Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs). At present, DDU-GKY has over 1.55 lakh candidates in training and placements. In the coming 2-3 years, DDU-GKY-approved projects to impact over 13 lakh rural poor youth at a cost of over Rs. 4,300 Cr.
