Step-by-Step Guide: How to File ITR Online in 2025

Step 1: Visit the Official Income Tax Portal

Step 2: Register or Login

If you're a new user, register using your PAN.

If already registered, log in using your PAN and password.

Step 3: Choose 'e-File' > 'Income Tax Return'

After logging in, click on the ‘e-File’ menu and select ‘Income Tax Return’.

Step 4: Select the Assessment Year & ITR Form

For income earned between April 2024 and March 2025, select AY 2025–26.

Choose the correct ITR form:

ITR-1 (Sahaj): For salaried individuals with income up to ₹50 lakh
