What is LIBOR?

In the early 1980s, the London Interbank Offered Rate, also known as LIBOR, was introduced and within no time became a popular benchmark for interest rates in the entire financial realm. Major global banks calculate it by averaging the rates of borrowing amongst each other.

Why Was LIBOR Replaced?
